This paper examines the effectiveness of the 1995 Mykonos verdict in protecting Iranian exiles from Ayatollah Khomeini's assassins. The author argues that before this trial Western countries turned a blind eye to the state sponsored assassinations of diaspora dissidents. She also concludes that the Mykonos verdict showed Iranian viewers how democracy worked in the West and empowered them to begin acting against the Iranian regime.
