This paper examines the military career of Winfield Scott and why, despite success in the War of 1812 and the War with Mexico, he is less well-thought-of today. The author argues that it was Scott's personality and leadership style which led to this situation and that the man's great military accomplishments deserve better than the legacy of his nickname, 'Old Fuss and Feathers,' suggests.
