This brief examines the danger posed by al-Qaeda in the context of threats it made against Western embassies and civilians in August 2013. The authors argue that US claims that al-Qaeda was very weak were premature and that the terrorist group will try to renew its global campaign of terror after NATO's withdrawal from Afghanistan. They also look at how al-Qaeda affects Israel.
