This commentary focuses on China's military-technological aspirations. The author looks at China’s National Medium to Long-term Plan for the Development of Science and Technology (2005-2020) which includes 13 listed national megaprojects and three classified areas. He then describes three possible candidates for the secret military megaprojects and concludes that China’s key challenge will be translating its scientific potential and technological advances into operational capabilities.
