This commentary looks at how political reforms have changed Indonesia's electoral landscape since 1999. The authors argue that the introduction of electoral thresholds have made the electoral landscape much leaner. They also note, however, a growing political elitism in the country and a greater stress on the personalities of those running with political parties running primarily under distinct presidential candidates.
