This brief explores the rise of a new nationalism in South Korea. The author argues that the first result of Korea’s new identity is the decline of ethno-nationalism. He examines a public opinion survey of South Koreans view of North Korea, as well as perceptions about the influence of the US, China, Russia, Japan and South Korea on global affairs both now and in the future. The analysis illustrates that South Korea is increasing in its confidence to operate on the international stage.
