This commentary examines the academic standards and staff qualifications in the US Department of Defense's (DOD) Professional Military Education (PME) system. The authors argue that PME's security practitioner-oriented curriculum and the inter-service mix of students offer valuable training for senior military leaders, one that cannot be duplicated in civilian institutions.
