This paper assesses the Muslim Brotherhood's (MB) involvement and attempt to reestablish a base in Syria. The author discusses the MB's structure and strategies, as well as objectives and different wings. She argues that although it is accused of placing its own ambitions above the interests of the Syrian population, the MB remains the best-organized political force within the Syrian opposition alliances. She concludes by calling on Germany and its partners to support the emergence of new political and civil society structures in Syria and to respect democratically elected bodies.
