This commentary examines whether the 2014 elections in Indonesia will create a new generation of leaders or continue the legacy of Suharto. The author compares politics during the so called 'New Order' era under Suharto with the situation in 2013 and argues that the elections could be a turning point in Indonesia’s transition if a new generation of leaders is elected.
