This note discusses the attributes of liberal democracy and examines to what extent and in what ways the Arab Spring has brought liberal democratic institutions to the Middle East. To do this, the author analyzes the state of the three institutional sources of liberal democracy in the Arab countries before and after the Arab Spring and provides an outlook of where he thinks the Arab Spring will lead.
