This commentary discusses the ending of the internal leadership struggle within the Islamist party PAS of Malaysia and the announcement that the partnership between the ulama (cleric) class and the non-ulama will continue. The author suggests that the relationship is a winning formula for the party, but it remains unclear whether the ulama will try again to eclipse the non-ulama.
