This paper examines the significance of the UN's adoption of the Intervention Brigade and unmanned areal vehicles (UAEs) in its peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The author argues that the use of these two by the UN in the DRC constitutes a continuation of the UN's statebuilding efforts. He also talks about what opportunities the Intervention Brigade and UAEs can offer both Western powers and countries in Africa in tackling the civil war in the DRC.
