This paper explores ways to reduce the proliferation risks associated with uranium mining/extraction in Africa without necessarily compromising the commercial and economic opportunities this activity represents. More precisely, it argues that the non-proliferation measures should be adapted to local circumstances and should not go beyond what is necessary to manage identified risks.
