This commentary looks at why China established the East China Sea Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ). The author argues that the ADIZ is an attempt to reestablish claim over the region, including the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands, and subtly influence South Korea. They also say that the ADIZ has increased tension in the region.
