Against a background of demographic decline and growing economic competitiveness from emerging economies, this policy brief looks into the potential benefits of increased intra-EU labor mobility. Using the ‘German case’ on EU labor mobility, the authors propose ideas on how the EU can create a better deal for its members and ensure that talented worker migration does not adversely affect individual EU countries. They conclude with a proposal on how to increase the potential benefits of the freedom of movement.
