This commentary looks at food security from the perspective of a food importing country - Singapore. The author argues that as importing countries rely on exporting nations for their food supply, instability in these nations pose a serious threat to their food security. He underlines that it is especially important that regional supply chains do not get disrupted in times of crises and suggests that a reliable import 'food tap' must be developed to ensure continuous food supply.
