This paper examines the effect and strategic complications of reducing the US's nuclear arsenal in the Asia Pacific. The author argues that the Asia Pacific region is not ready for further nuclear reductions by the US and that any such action is unlikely to contribute to stability in the region. She concludes that nuclear weapons remain a crucial tool of diplomacy and deterrence in a region where the distribution of power is still undecided.
