This paper focuses on the diversion of military equipment from peacekeeping operations and on how it can be checked and prevented. The authors argue that funding stockpile management and surplus destruction and establishing clear guidelines on when captured weapons are transferred to national military can limit stockpile diversion. They conclude by outlining that diversion is a long-standing problem that has yet to be awarded the attention it deserves.
