This commentary focuses on risks and opportunities that are emerging through the increasing use of the Internet by terrorists in Indonesia. The author contends that the rise of online terrorist-related activity and the tension between the maintenance of a free internet and security have complicated counterterrorism activates. However, he argues that the internet also presents opportunities for counterterrorism efforts including in the gathering of intelligence.
