This paper examines the differences between the global development approaches of the EU and the UN. The author argues that both the EU and the UN are in favor of integrating the Millennium Development Goals into a new format after their expiry in September 2015. However, the proposals discussed within the EU are based on the conventional donor-recipient approach which the UN rejects. The author concludes by highlighting the EU’s crucial role in taking the global partnership agenda forward.
