This brief analyzes the air power capabilities of India and China and wonders how the Indian Air Force (IAF) would fare against the China’s People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) in a Sino-Indian conflict. It concludes that the PLAAF has a quantitative edge over the IAF and that India needs to modernize its air assets if it hopes to deter China from ever trying to force a military solution to their long-standing border dispute in Arunachal Pradesh.
