This paper talks about the relevance of the concept of an "Indo-Pacific" system arguing that in an economic and strategic sense, it is a valid and objective description of the greater regional system in which Australia now finds itself. He also says that the concept places Australia in a prime position to involve itself in the development of the region. He then talks about how Australia can achieve this and recommends that it maintain a strengthened alliance with the US and partnerships with others including India, Indonesia and Japan alongside an improved security relationship with China.
