This paper talks about the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to India in January 2014 and argues that the visit will take bilateral ties between Tokyo and New Delhi to a higher level. The author contends that India ranks high in Abe’s priorities as improved relations could be beneficial both for the country's economy and its efforts to deal with the rise and assertiveness of China.
