This paper is the second of two which analyze the historical and cultural factors underlying the protests in Bangkok aimed at bringing down Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, which started in late 2013. This second paper particularly focuses on how the political crisis can be brought to a close. The author argues that this is dependent on two conditions. First, former Prime Minister Thaksin must agree to remain in exile, his family must give up their claim on power, and his coalition must abandon its "winner takes all" policy. Second, there needs to be a political group that can compete against Thaksin.
