This commentary discusses some of the outcomes of the December 2013 European Council Summit, which focused on Common Security and Defense Policy (CDSP). The authors say that what was agreed on at the Summit now needs to be exploited to the fullest possible extent in order to create a new foundation for the CSDP, which the authors think should focus more on European security and defense cooperation than crisis management.
