This article examines the use of geospatial tools and analysis within Jamaica’s security sector. In particular, it takes a look at the technology’s application in three areas: crime and security analysis; community profiles; and building social data sets to provide spatial analysis. The authors argue that geospatial technology offers a deeper understanding of the dynamics of crime and that it enables the Jamaican security sector to more efficiently employ its limited resources.
