This paper talks about the role of time and contingency planning in Australian defense policy as well as the country's 2013 Defence White Paper. In particular, the author argues that Australia's government should re-examine its defense policy on contingency, warning time, force expansion and levels of preparedness and, in this process, take account of the growth of economies and militaries in the Indo-Pacific region.
