This commentary talks about the consequences that climate hazards have on food security in Asia taking the typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines as an example. The author argues that the devastation created by the typhoon shows that there is need for a regional mechanism that would help link national policies and regional initiatives to enable effective responses to such natural disasters.
