This paper examines the enduring problems posed by North Korea's nuclear program, the limited pressure that can be applied against Pyongyang, and South Korean President Park Geun-hye’s policies towards the North. The paper then closes by recommending that in the specific case of Australia, Canberra needs to serve as an honest broker in future diplomatic interactions with North Korea.
