In light of the US Secretary of State John Kerry’s attendance at India’s Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2014, this brief evaluates the state of US-India relations and where they might be heading in the future. Among other issues, it talks about the difficulties in the relationship caused by such events as the arrest of India's diplomat Devyani Khobragade in New York in late 2013 and the US State Department's downgrading of India's civil aviation sector in January 2014.
