This commentary discusses why hostilities of a religious nature seem to have significantly increased around the world. The author argues that religion itself is not to blame and that problems are stirred up by individuals under the pretext of religion. He concludes that while government intervention is needed to reduce hostilities, the onus is on people of faith to redeem the good image of religion by showing the world the ‘true spirit’ of religion.
