This analysis talks about various issues pertaining to federal taxation in Pakistan. It looks at the key taxes collected by the federal government over the last five years, assesses issues that the government has recently faced with regard to increasing revenue collection, and assesses whether and how the 2013 loan negotiated with the IMF under the Extended Fund Facility will affect revenue collection efforts, both in terms of changes to the structure of taxation and efforts to expand the tax net.
