This paper provides a history of uranium governance in the UK, focusing on the front end of the fuel cycle, up to and including the point where safeguards are applied to nuclear material. It also provides information on the domestic nuclear legislation, regulation and implementation, with a particular focus on import/export and transportation of nuclear material. The authors conclude that the UK has a robust nuclear governance architecture that has undergone significant changes in recent years, and that these developments indicate a strong commitment to implementing the required nuclear governance measures.
