This commentary discusses the implications which the recently enhanced economic and political relations between China and Taiwan could have on the possible reunification of the countries. The author says that although the increases in cross-strait relations have been economically beneficial to both parties, these advances may actually hinder the possibility of reunification as they make the status quo more attractive for the Taiwanese.
