This note analyzes China’s position regarding Russia’s intervention in the Ukrainian crisis. The author says that by employing verbal acrobatics to substantiate its claim to uphold the principle of non-intervention while in fact supporting Russian intervention, Beijing has chosen power politics over principled policy. She says that in return, China will expect, and doubtless get, reciprocal support from Moscow for its actions in the East and South China seas and Taiwan.
