This paper discusses the consequences of a boycott of the 2015 Myanmar federal election by the League for Democracy (NLD), if the constitution is not changed to allow their candidate Aung San Suu Kyi to run for president. The author suggests that while constitutional change is important, a boycott could have negative consequences for Myanmar’s political stability as well as for the NLD.
