This article examines US President Obama's reaction to Russia's intervention in Crimea in early 2014 and compares it to Washington’s reactions to Soviet invasions which occurred during the Cold War. The author also talks about the possible ramifications of the US and it allies’ decision not to reply to Russia’s actions in Crimea through the use of force, including those for the Middle East.
