This commentary discusses the role of resilience in the capacity of Asia-Pacific states to achieve the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals. The author argues that building resilience at the community level is imperative for many developing countries in the region and comments on some of the main challenges to achieving resilience. He also highlights the importance of empowering communities to propose their own solutions, with government support. Furthermore, he emphasizes the need to recast resilience as networked resilience, wherein sustainable solutions are created through a combination of inputs by communities, local governments, NGOs and national governments.
