This commentary discusses the advantages and risks associated with the adoption of nuclear energy by Asian countries. The author first discusses some of the benefits of this type of energy, such as it being cleaner, more affordable and perceived to be less susceptible to economic fluctuations and geopolitical uncertainties than fossil fuels. He then outlines two key safety requirements for nuclear reactors as well as the risks associated with nuclear waste management.
