This paper addresses Taiwan's part in managing tensions in the East China Sea as well as the role it could play in defusing tensions in the South China Sea. The author particularly focuses on the impact that Taiwan could make on the disputes in the South China Sea by clarifying its position on the nine-dash line, which sets out China's maritime claims in the region.
