This paper discusses US engagement with the Pacific Island nations, focusing especially on the financial assistance and security it provides. The authors also give some recommendations on how the US can improve its security engagement with the Pacific Islands, including the suggestion that it could further inter-agency coordination and cooperation by using the Global Security Contingency Fund as a model for providing assistance to the islands.
