This brief reviews how South Asian states address terrorism and violent extremism via their legal systems. One advantage the systems have is that they share common denominator principles such as the rule of law, the assumption of innocence until being proven guilty, etc. Despite these advantages, however, a greater overlap of effort is necessary, particularly when it comes to embracing the UN's Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
