This paper examines the results of India's 2014 general elections, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) that it leads won a majority in the country's parliament. In particular, the author examines some of the reasons why the BJP campaign was so successful, where the election leaves the Congress party and some of the reasons for its poor performance, as well as how some of India's regional parties fared in the elections.
