This paper discusses the history of the European Parliament elections in general and the results of the 2014 elections in particular and what these can tell us about Europe's opinion of the EU. The author also addresses what the 2014 election results suggest about the future of the EU and argues that despite the increase in the vote for eurosceptic parties there are a number of reasons why it is difficult to say how significant this will be for the future course of the Union.
