This paper discusses the legal and constitutional validity of the Indian Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act of 1958, as well as its compatibility with international human rights standards. The author discusses some of the unreasonable and unjust clauses of the act and concludes with some recommendations on how it could be made more effective, humane and reasonable in the eyes of the law.
