This commentary reviews India’s relations with Pakistan after the elections of Narendra Modi in India and Nawaz Sharif in Pakistan. According to the author, there are good reasons to believe that as long as Modi does not place Hindu nationalism at the center of India’s foreign policy, this new relationship will allow for a decrease in the tensions between the two countries. For Modi, this would entail him focusing his full attention on India’s economic and social development in order to achieve the results he promised during his election campaign.
