This note reviews the status of Canadian politics as of the summer of 2014. In particular, it 1) discusses the strengths and weaknesses of Prime Minister Harper's Tory government; 2) considers different scenarios for the country's 2015 federal elections; 3) scrutinizes the procurement problems of the Canadian Armed Forces, which have become too politicized; 4) looks at the future prospects for Quebec's independence; and 5) comments on the effect Keystone pipeline delays are having on Washington's bilateral relations with Ottawa.
