This paper is a response to an article on US policy toward Asia and how the US should maintain its dominance in the region. The author argues that the article is limited only to US interests, that it does not take into account changes within Asia, and that it does not consider that there could be alternative approaches to maintaining peace and order in the region other than the US-led one that is already in place. The author then discusses the importance of middle powers in Asia - including South Korea, Japan and some members of ASEAN - for a US policy for peace and security in the region.
