This analysis evaluates the state of the United Nations’ Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, with particular focus on three themes addressed by the UN Security Council Resolution 2122. These include 1) the articulation of a whole-of-UN mandate for improving the implementation of the foundational resolution of the WPS architecture, UN Security Council Resolution 1325; 2) the importance of the inclusion of civil society at all stages of peace and security governance, including conflict resolution and peace negotiations; and 3) the upcoming High-Level Review that will take place in 2015 on the 15th anniversary of the adoption of UNSCR 1325.
