This paper discusses Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip and argues against the position held by Palestinians that the aim of this approach is to overpower Gaza economically. The author contends that the blockade is maintained by Israel for reasons of security and defense and that the poor economic situation in Gaza is actually due to the terrorism emanating from the territory. He also discusses the potential for reconstruction and economic recovery in Gaza if Hamas remains in power and what policy Israel should adopt toward the territory in the future.
